Lenover’s is a well established family franchise that has serviced the Chatham- Kent area for over 85 years in the meat and food industry. Gerald Lenover started the enterprise in 1933 as an abattoir to meet the needs of livestock farmers. As the “undertaking” expanded over the years Gerald brought his three brothers into the fold. Walter, Keith and John hence the name Lenover Brothers Ltd. was incorporated in 1953. For many years the “Brothers Four” operated a business which covered the entire food chain process.
Starting in the barnyard Gerald would purchase the calves to be weaned off their cow moms until they were put in the care of Keith. He would in turn pamper and feed the young heifers and steers until they were ready for the retail and wholesale market. Walter managed the cutting and wrapping department where farmers brought their prized beef in to be processed for the frozen food market. At one point in the 1970’s Walter and his specialized meat cutters cut and wrapped over 1,000,000 lbs of beef and pork to be consumed by Chatham-Kent meat-eaters! John Lenover attended to the retail / grocery store at the front end. His trademark was the tender loving care he provided to patrons of the fresh, frozen and deli meat counters.
Today the business has changed dramatically to provide for the different needs and wants of the scrutinizing consumer which includes:

- Wholesale manufacturing for the food service industry
- Sausage production kitchen for both retail and wholesale departments
- Fundraising programs for charitable and non-profit organizations
